A Thousand Splendid Suns, by Khaled Hosseini
I read this book in less than 24 hours - it was so riveting and difficult to read at times. But in this season of "much" it is an in-your-face reminder of those all over the world that live much harder lives than those we live here in the United States. It is moving and unforgettable and beautiful all at the same time.


Cold Tangerines, by Shauna Niequist
I recently saw Shauna read/speak and she is just as endearing and cute in person as you would think she is by reading her stories. Writing while she lives in my hometown makes it more "comfy-cozy" for me as I feel that I can relate to her places and people. But no matter where you live or where you are in your life right now you will laugh and cry and relate to her like she is your long lost sister.


The Queens Fool, by Philippa Gregory
The author of The Other Boleyn Girl, The Queens Fool is the follow up story and in my opinion has a much richer narrative and relatable main character whom you grow to love and root for, even when her choices are often naive. But can't we all relate to that? Any of the stories in Philippa's ongoing saga are a great buy for those who love to devour historical romantic novels. This one just tickled my fancy a touch more than the Other Boleyn Girl.
